Every project Earthly considers is subjected to our unique and

rigorous screening process

. This stringent approach involves a scoring system that analyses 106 data points and aggregates evidence from multiple data partners and on-the-ground reporting. Projects are assessed against high standards that consider not just carbon offset potential, but also biodiversity and social co-benefits. 

Out of more than 300 projects assessed, only 8% meet Earthly’s meticulous criteria. Our meticulous approach guarantees that only the highest quality projects are supported.

We have an

independent scientific advisory board

that helps us maintain the integrity and efficacy of our project assessment. Our board members bring a wealth of experience from leading institutions such as RECOFTC, the UN-REDD Board, and organisations focused on climate law and policy, including the UNFCCC and Climate Policy Coalition. Their expertise ensures that Earthly's projects meet the highest scientific and ethical standards.

By working closely with our network of partners, project developers and consultants, we assist projects from initial planning to full implementation - and help sustainable businesses secure future carbon credits for a sustainability strategy with longevity.

Peatlands store twice as much carbon per hectare as forests. Earthly's peatland restoration projects help prevent carbon release, improve water quality, and support biodiversity, including rare plant and animal species.

Forests act as carbon sinks, absorbing approximately 2.5 billion tons of CO₂ annually. Earthly's forest conservation and reforestation initiatives protect biodiversity, support local communities, contribute to climate change mitigation, and enhance water cycles.

Grasslands cover about 40% of the Earth's land surface and help with carbon sequestration, soil health, and water regulation. Earthly's grassland management practices enhance these ecosystem services, provide habitat for wildlife, and support sustainable agriculture.

Mangroves provide coastal protection, support fisheries, and store significant amounts of carbon. Our mangrove restoration projects contribute to climate change mitigation, adaptation, disaster risk reduction, and the livelihoods of coastal communities.
